The highest trekking peak in Nepal, Mera Peak (6,470 m/21,227 ft), offers beginner-friendly mountaineering with stunning Himalayan views. After a scenic flight to Lukla, the 19-20 days journey includes of a trek through isolated valleys, lush forests, and high-altitude passes. Climbers ascend to the summit for breathtaking panoramas of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Kangchenjunga following acclimatization and ice-axe training at Khare. Before heading back to Kathmandu, the descent passes over the breathtaking Zatrwa La Pass. Standing at 6,470 meters, Mera Peak is the highest trekking peak in Nepal, located in the Mahalangur range near the Everest region. While it requires fitness and basic mountaineering skills, it remains accessible to adventurous beginners with proper guidance.

The journey begins with a thrilling flight from Lukla, followed by a trek through lush forests, high passes, and remote villages before ascending the Mera-La. Climbers receive ice axe and crampon training at the base camp before reaching the summit. On a clear day, the panoramic views from the top are unparalleled - stretching from Kanchenjunga (third highest) in the east to Everest, Lhotse (fourth) and Cho-Oyu in the west.

A free day is included for weather contingencies. If circumstances permit, this extra day can be spent relaxing in Lukla, celebrating the success of the climb in its lively cafes and bars.

Itinerary

20 Days Hotel

After arriving at TIA Airport Kathmandu, you must take an arrival visa from the immigration of Nepal for your stay in Nepal. However (15,30,90days), if you want to spend time in Nepal, you must pay ($30 for 15 days, 50 for 30 days). We also want to inform you that you may take up to 3 hours to complete all the procedures. It may vary according to the schedule of the plane and flight that you are coming from.

After that, we will stand at the arrival point with our banner and nameplate and take you to your hotel in the vehicle we have arranged. In this order, you will be welcomed with flowers and Khada (Special Buddhist prayer things). With all that, on the way to the hotel, you will find Nepali traffic jams, which can irritate you, but still, you will explore a little bit of the capital city of Nepal.

On the preparation day for your Mera Peak climbing adventure in Kathmandu, you’ll enjoy a special group dinner with Team Jolly Himalaya. This is a great opportunity to meet your fellow climbers, guides, and support staff while discussing the exciting journey ahead. Over delicious local cuisine, you’ll receive a final briefing, share expectations, and bond as a team before setting off toward the Himalayas. 20 Days Guesthouse

This day our journey will be from Kathmandu -Lukla and Paiya  Village. In this our journey to Lukla will be either direct from Kathmandu or a short flight followed by a 4-5 hour drive to Ramechhap. (Due to traffic jams in Kathmandu for the past few years, this has been done in most seasons.

After reaching Lukla, our " JOLLY" guide will introduce you to our "Jolly" helpers, manage the duffel bags and inform you about the overall situation there.

After a brief stop, you begin your trek through lush hillsides, traditional Sherpa villages, and rhododendron forests. You cross a few suspension bridges before reaching Paiya (also called Chutok) for the night.

Today’s trail follows a forested ridge with occasional views of distant peaks. You pass through small farming settlements where locals grow millet and potatoes, eventually arriving at the charming village of Pangkongma, known for its cultural heritage and friendly atmosphere.

Leaving Pangkongma, the path ascends through rhododendron and oak forests before crossing the Pangkongma La Pass. From here, you’ll enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains before a steady descent to the remote settlement of Nashing Dingma.

The trek continues with a series of ascents and descents through untouched forests rich in wildlife. You’ll pass yak pastures and seasonal herder camps before reaching Chholem Kharka, a peaceful spot surrounded by alpine meadows.

The trail now follows the Hinku River upstream, with the valley walls growing steeper and more dramatic. Towering peaks, including Mera Peak and Kusum Kanguru, loom overhead as you ascend past glacial moraines. Tangnag, a seasonal settlement with a few basic lodges, serves as your acclimatization stop before the climb to higher altitudes.
